Meaning is in People

In the “Unbearable Lightness of Being,” Kundera describes four ways people want to be recognized.

  • The first longs for “the look of an infinite number of anonymous eyes”;
  • The second needs “many known eyes”.
  • The third demands the eyes of “the person they love”;
  • The fourth is most rare and composed of people “who live in the imaginary eyes of those who are not present.”

All are recognized in the dense urban world. The world is full of information and data, big and small on every subject and place imaginable, but the meaning of it is in people. Have a look. Make a recommendation.
