London

The lessons regarding a lateral limitation of the urban environment may play out best in Great Britain.

Urban planning in the UK illustrates steps that limit through preservation and a sense of an urban boundary, but the truth rests where the Roman world remains. Less: eventually it is all buried, with fragments to remember the things made that brought us to now.

The question “what shall we preserve” at the conclusion of the animation below is answered – the urban past is artifact hidden in situ. The London Evolution Animation that follows was developed by the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at The Bartlett (UCL), in collaboration with English Heritage, The University of Cambridge and Museum of London Archaeology.
